【Good to Know!】Recommended Restrooms at Shin-Osaka Station
Shin-Osaka Station is always bustling with people, and unfortunately, that usually means long lines at the restrooms! When you're traveling or rushing to a concert, you don’t want to waste even a second.
So here’s a list of recommended restrooms that are super helpful when you need them most.
①【Restrooms Inside the Shinkansen Gate】Closest to the Platform!
The restroom closest after getting off the Shinkansen is the one located inside the Shinkansen ticket gate.
The JR local line restrooms are inside “Eki Marche Shin-Osaka,” an area packed with souvenir shops and eateries, so they’re usually crowded.
If you want to hit the restroom as soon as you get off the Shinkansen, the ones inside the Shinkansen gate are your best bet♪
②【Restrooms Inside the Osaka Metro Gate】Best Option When Transferring to the Metro
If you’re transferring from the Shinkansen to the Osaka Metro for sightseeing, we recommend using the restroom inside the Osaka Metro Shin-Osaka Station gate!
Believe it or not, this restroom was the first in a train station to receive the ‘Japan Toilet Award’.
It’s super spacious and clean, and the women’s section even has fitting rooms and a powder room with chairs—perfect for checking your look before a concert♪
There are only about 4–5 stalls, so it’s not a huge number, but if you’re looking for a clean and roomy restroom—especially with luggage—this is the one for you.
③【Restroom Near the 1st Floor Group Waiting Room】A Hidden Gem on the First Floor
If every restroom near the ticket gates is packed, try using the one near the 1st floor group waiting room outside the gates.
It’s usually less crowded than the ones on the 3rd floor.
Just note that the area near the main entrance on the 1st floor is also a bus drop-off spot, so it might get busy if there are group tours or school trips.
【Hidden Spots!】Less Crowded Coin Lockers at Shin-Osaka Station
A lot of people use coin lockers at Shin-Osaka Station! Just like with the restrooms, it can be tough to find an available one.
So we’ve listed two relatively empty coin locker spots you’ll want to know about♪
① Coin Lockers Inside the JR Local Line Gates
Coin lockers outside the Shin-Osaka gates tend to fill up quickly, but the coin lockers located at the very back of the JR local line area are usually available.
They're located near platforms 9 and 10, so they’re super handy when transferring on JR lines!
② Coin Lockers Behind the Restroom Near the 1st Floor Group Waiting Room
We also recommend the coin lockers located behind the restroom near the 1st floor group waiting room, which we introduced earlier.
Since it’s right by the waiting room, it’s perfect for meeting up or waiting for your train! It’s super convenient if you’re already using the restroom or waiting area♪
【Super Handy When You're in a Pinch】Where to Find ATMs at Shin-Osaka Station
Ever arrive at Shin-Osaka Station and suddenly realize, “I have no cash!” or “Where’s the nearest ATM…?” Yeah, same.
So here’s a list of ATM locations around the station gates that will totally save you in those moments♪
① 3rd Floor of Shin-Osaka Station / To the Right After Exiting the Shinkansen South Gate
Exit the Shinkansen South Gate and you’ll find ATMs from “Mitsubishi UFJ Bank” and “Resona Bank” immediately on your right.
They’re super convenient if you’re using the Shinkansen, so definitely keep it in mind.
② 3rd Floor of Shin-Osaka Station / Inside Eki Marche in the JR Local Line Area
Inside Eki Marche in the JR local line area, you’ll find ATMs from “Sumitomo Mitsui Bank” and “Seven Bank.”
③ 3rd Floor of Shin-Osaka Station / In Front of the JR Local Line Ticket Gate
In front of the JR local line ticket gates at Shin-Osaka Station, you’ll find ATMs from “AEON Bank” and “Mizuho Bank.” Super convenient to stop by while transferring!
